This fabulous 24-hour event has a full schedule of entertainment, education and most of all inspiring stories of HOPE by survivors.  Relay for Life is famous for its candlelight luminarias.  For only $10 or more, you can select “luminaria” from within the donations page if you wish to make your donation in support or memory of someone.  Any amount you can give is welcome! What a year!

2009 has been another blessed year for me; I hope that it also has been for you.  I have been so fortunate to be able to volunteer full-time and have my good health and the support of my loving family and many friends all over the country.  Read about my 2009 Making Strides Results, see photos and learn how “Stacy’s Circle of Friends” raised over $150,000 in the fight against breast cancer.

Year-end always brings reflections and this year is no different.  I am so very thankful for all the lovely people in my life and for the joy they bring.  For me, it really is all about the people, and I’m so happy to have you in my Circle of Friends.

Where in the World is Stacy?

This year has brought about significant changes and a hankering for some traveling adventures.  In September, I purged and packed and temporarily moved in with a friend in Encinitas and now I’m ready to travel!  I’m fortunate to have the opportunity and ability to go and explore other parts of the world, and it’s time for me to “seize the moment!”  Visit my travel blog to read more about my adventures that will begin on December 10^th.  “Fan me on Facebook” to see “Wall posts” whenever I update my blog.  If you know anybody fun in those parts, contact me and let me know.

On my 10 year anniversary of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, I can’t help but look back and see the positive work Stacy’s Circle of Friends has accomplished.  I wish that everyone could have been at the actual event to see and feel the emotion, empowerment and HOPE that was present – it was a walk like no other!  Below are some special recognitions along with a few team and event highlights.

Our San Diego 2009 Making Strides event hosted 25,000 walkers and raised $950,000! Here’s how Stacy’s Circle of Friends’ generous contributions are making a difference and positive impact against the fight against cancer:

• My individual 2009 Campaign reached $122,118 bringing my cumulative individual fundraising in the fight against cancer to $700,000 since 2000!  You can still donate now towards my $125,000 goal.
• Stacy’s Circle of Friends teams raised over $150,000 this year bringing our Teams’ cumulative fundraising to over $1,000,000 since 2000!
• SCOF Around the Nation: Victoria Carlson and Irene Bodkin raised over $5,000 in Nashua, NH!
  Laura Kiluk’s AccuRev/Stacy’s Circle of Friends team in Boston raised over $5,000! This was my first walk in Boston (wicked cool!) which led to the honor of speaking at their event!
• San Diego Teams: Stacy’s Circle of Friends had nearly 100 participants on October 18th!
  Mike Lindsay, Team Captain of Stacy’s Biker Friends. Not only did they raise over $2,700 in donations, but Mike is the first to orchestrate a beautiful line-up of a dozen Harley Davidsons accompanied by 30 participants! What a sight!
  Elaine Ardizonne, Team Captain of Sweet Cheeks Baking Company had an entourage of a dozen participants, raising over $1,200. Nice job shakin’ the sugar, Sweet Cheeks!
• San Diego Pacesetters (raising over $2,000) were Megan Powers, Kate Daniels and Don Wells.  Beth Dooley is nearly there; GO BETH!

This year, just months prior to the walk I was reminded that time is precious and in a matter of seconds an individual’s life path can change forever. After the completion of this year’s walk, one of our Pacesetters, Megan, came to the Director of the event, Jennifer Berg and me to say “thank you” for what we are doing and what we inspire others to do. Megan has been supporting Making Strides for 3 years on behalf of both her mother and her sister’s battle with breast cancer. This year it became Megan’s own personal battle. She delivered a HUG of THANKS through me that is also meant for all of my supporters!

YOU deliver HOPE to people like Megan!  TOGETHER we are making a difference in the lives of many and we will always remember those we have lost before their time to cancer.

Happy Thanksgiving and UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!

My mom and I will be meeting in Washington, DC the week before Thanksgiving to see Andrea Bocelli and Carmen. We’re both looking forward to our trip! Then it’s back to San Diego for Thanksgiving week with friends and family.

On December 10^th, I’ll again be traveling to Nicaragua through 1/4/09. I’ll be staying with my friend Bonnie who has lived there just over a year now. She loves it and continues to spend much of her time volunteering with local Nicaraguans. She is still teaching English classes to various people to improve their businesses. She also goes out with their ONLY mobile library program and most recently, is forming a collaboration of locals and ex-pats to start a women’s center.

At this time of Thanksgiving, please remember to count your blessings and spread love and kindness to those around you. The current economic times are challenging for everyone, but for some, they are completely unmanageable. I encourage you to act on any desire to contribute, volunteer or help others in any way possible this season. You will reap the rewards and see the beauty of some of life’s greatest gifts for everyone involved.

May you and yours have a blessed, joyous, peaceful and safe holiday season and a prosperous and healthy New Year!
